I'm sure there is, but for all practical purposes, I don't imagine its
relevant unless you live in a *very* big house... :-)  I don't think 100ft
would be any problem at all. (not for simple contact closure anyway, - using
EOL resistors might require some tweaking to the threshold levels on the
VIOM's inputs to take account of the resistance of the wire, but that's the
only issue I can think of...)
