The Keyboard connector in the Beeb used to be a problem as well. It would work loose and not boot up, press it back in place and it worked. If only a non booting PC was that easy :-O

Sometimes the machine doesn't start up and goes through a diagnostic phase.
To get it working you need to open the machine up and push down on some of
the chips etc. dry joints etc.
