IR emitter lead length

I’ve bought an RC-5200 plus the Philips RF-IR unit (they do work together, and the Philips unit is 25 quid cheaper).

I’m slightly concerned as the cupboard I want to house the sky+ box is also going to be home to at least 2 dimmer panels, which could potentially interfere. The blaster, though not quite as powerful as a stock Pronto will certainly fire IR across a room, so I was thinking of mounting the unit on the ceiling opposite the main equipment stack so that I can operate the remote without pointing ala Crestron. If I want to attach one of the supplied emitter leads (double headed) Xantech styleto the same box and extend its lead, what sort of cable length can I use? It will be laid in the ceiling before decoration so I can use something with a low resistance per unit length – probably something like QED 79 strand as the MD of QED is doing my “automation” type wiring.
