I have the same problem using the Epod, sometimes have to do a reset to get it to work, thought it was just me not knowing what I was doing, probably still is.

Dunno what to suggest Justin but that's definitely NOT "just the way it is".  I find the wireless LAN works faultlessly...especially with he Orinoco cards.
