I've just uploaded 11 pics of the PCBs in my NTL/Pace DiTV-2000 STB (The
one
with IRDA remote control)

Disassembly.....Yes please :-)
Re: Learning. The reasons it wont learn IRDA are that the receiver they use
may not be capable but more likely the frequencey is too high. To correclty
learn a signal you have to sample the received signal at a rate several
times higher than the actual datarate of the signal. At the datarate is
really high, the microcontroller probably doesnt run fast enough to
oversample.

I have said URC-7560, which works fine with my Telewest box. It is very
picky tho about being pointed DIRECT at the box, but works for about 10'
(Furthest I can get away from the box)The transmitter ont the front is just
an IR LED, the same one that is used for IR. The remote is a learning
remote, however it WILL NOT learn IRDA commands (This is stated on the
website)
I will see if I can take apart my telewest box and see if I can find the
receiver, if anyone thinks this will help

How much is a OFA6, worth butchering to see what transmitter they use,
assuming it transmits IRDA over long range?
