Ummmmm, basically true, and entirely understandable
But dont laugh at the death of my fish! :p

Something that people keep coming back to is that there isnt much need
for anyone other than the owners to be using the auto-magical bits and
pieces that have been integrated over time to run the house. When you
are off on holiday, the house will run itself, giving a "lived
in"
look, and therefore, no need for a house sitter.
Asides from the previously mentioned server crashes, or inevitable TM11
lock ups, just because a house looks lived in, is no deterrant to
intruders.
We know at least 3 people who have had their alarmed house burgled
whilst they were sleeping, and had no idea till they got up in the
morning. Also, unlike the vast majority of the population, we dont spend
our nights in front of the TV or even in the living room, we are upstairs
at the back of the house in the office online. So our "lived in"
look is
very "unlived in" compared to most.
Basically, having alarms is not much of a deterrant, having lights go
on and off is not much of a deterrant. I am happy to leave our house
unattended for two nights, no more. If its to be any longer I want
someone to drop by at least to check the house is still standing, and
next door havent burned us down, and to make sure the car is still there.
You get the point.

Basically, there are many reasons why someone might be in your house
without someone to show them how to switch on the sterio. Just because
you have learned how to live with it, doesnt make it simple for everyone.

For most people, if your SWMBO gets the point, anyone can get it.
But it is just another example of She Who Must Be Obey is Always Right!
;-)
