Oh... and I sort of thought that the links from the kernel to the output
handlers would be XML files...
... because that would give clean interfacing, AND allow ready access to
other sorts of output devices (webpages, SMS messages...)

Well...
... this is the kind of thing I had in mind for the software architecture.
(TIFF attached - about 64k, so shouldn't take more than a 10 seconds even
on a modem.)
It would allow multiple plug ins for input sources - some info-providers
only, some also with trigger capabilities.
I was sort of assuming that the kernel would loop, and CHECK that no
triggers had fired, rather than being REALLY message driven (kind of like
the HV kernel does.)
The output is deliberately modular again, to allow different types of
devices to be used.
I think that it should be VERY simple...
... probably with the kernel written in PERL for the following reasons:
- MySQL-handling routines for PERL and other DBs readily available
- it's ideally suited to text manipulation
- easy to write
- supports multiple O/Ss
Regards,
Mark
