Well...

... this is the kind of thing I had in mind for the software architecture. (TIFF attached - about 64k, so shouldn't take more than a 10 seconds even on a modem.)

It would allow multiple plug ins for input sources - some info-providers only, some also with trigger capabilities.

I was sort of assuming that the kernel would loop, and CHECK that no triggers had fired, rather than being REALLY message driven (kind of like the HV kernel does.)

The output is deliberately modular again, to allow different types of devices to be used.

I think that it should be VERY simple...

... probably with the kernel written in PERL for the following reasons:

- MySQL-handling routines for PERL and other DBs readily available
- it's ideally suited to text manipulation
- easy to write
- supports multiple O/Ss
