Tony,

There are three options here:

- Mark says "I will make the decisions"
-- dictatorship. I trust Mark, and think he does a great job. However, if
he has a fault, it's that he's TOO willing to go with the flow, and
unwilling to try to act in a control freak manner.


- Mark says "You should seriously consider and vote. If you don't
vote, then you lose any moral right to complain if the outcome isn't the
way you'd like"
-- democracy, UK style. After all, this is a primarily UK group.


- Mark says "You must vote. If you don't vote, then you'll get thrown
off the list"
-- democracy, Italian style. You are legally bound to vote in general
elections, and can be imprisoned if you don't.


I'm glad that Mark has chosen the middle way...

Yes, but Mark _has_ moderated in the past, and ppl _have_ looked to him
for
guidance on what is/is not acceptable - defacto, however inactive
usually,
Mark _is_ the list moderator and if ppl don't like what he's doing then
they
can't take it away from him because it is _his_ list and he can do what
he
likes with it (NB, this is not a suggestion that I or indeed anyone else
is
happy with the way Mark does things, just pointing out that he is in
charge
whether he likes it or not really).

Being part of the silent majority, they wouldn't complain anyway :-/
I just don't think it would be fair for a vocal minority to cause changes
in
the list if the silent majority are happy as is......

....which ppl should accept because we're all different, all have our

opinions, and all have bad days - there are _bound_ to be clashes.
