Hi Ian
        Have been prototyping on veroboard for too long to remember . If the
circuit is simple i,ll use breadboard ,but im used to the veroboard .Dont
worry i short things out as well ,good for brushing up on your fault finding
skills.........

Good news on your comms stuff  ,well done...... Is the Rc5 stuff timing the
same as the Sony Format?

Are you saying that one unit receives the ir (from remote) and the other
unit is transmitting the same signal, which it received via 485
comms??????????

The data structure stuff very interesting , may at some stage have a play
using the SNAP protocol , looks like you might have someone to write your pc
software...
