What timing :-)

I ordered an APC BackUPS 350CS yesterday from GlobalDirect (GBP 52.99 +vat).
It's due to arrive next week so I'll have a play and post some feedback.
Like you, I only need to shut down in an orderly manner, rather than keep
things running. I don't yet know whether I'll do it automatically (probably)
or manually on an alarm. I'll see what the run-time is like with & without
monitor, that'll probably make the decision for me.

One further point with the CS models from APC - they state that they have
USB *and* serial connectivity although only a USB port is provided on the
back of the unit. You'll need to phone APC (0870 845 8520) to order a "USB
to serial converter" - they've sent me one FOC. :-)))

Will post some more when I've tried it out.
