Are you leaving a respectful pause between switching attempts? For a 
regular switch, the awm2 will notice the change in state, and then it 
will ignore further changes for a couple of seconds or so.

For example with my single switch set up, I can toggle the switch on and
off like the clappers, but the state of the light only actually changes
every couple of seconds or so.
