Is anyone going to answer my question?

So that I can compare MP3 to RAW CD I'd like to burn a disc. This is purely an academic exercise so I'm looking for something that won't cost, or at least has a free evaluation period. In order to give mp3 a fair crack of the whip, I'm looking for the best encoder I can lay my hands on.

What should I be looking at?

Tim.
