Quad
LNB has 4 reception bands and 4 outputs
LO-Band Vertical Plarisation
HI-Band Vertical Polarisation
LO-Band Horizontal
Polarisation
HI-Band Horizontal
Polarisation
Vertical is selected with 13 Volts on the LNB
Cable
Horizontal is selected with 18 Volts on the LNB
Cable
Hi-Band is selected by feeding a 22kHz tone up the
cable.
On
analogue I used to have a 4 way switch and 2 dual LNBS
LNB 1
was Astra, LNB 2 was Hotbird
13V No
Tone = Astra V
18V No
Tone = Astra H
13V
Tone ON = Hotbird V
18V
Tone ON = Hotbird H.
There
are Dual and Twin LNBs. The difference being ....
Dual
has 2 outputs - 1 Horizontal and 1 Vertical and you must use a switch to
select
Twin
is effectively 2 x single LNB in one package where each output could supply
either H or V.
A
twin
is limited to 2 receivers.
A
dual
is limited only by the selection of switch. You can get switched with 16
outputs
and feed a whole block of flats from the one LNB.
Quad
LNB's are available with the 4 discrete outputs or with switchable outputs.
If I
go down this route I will go for the discrete outputs as I already have a
suitable Tone Switch siting in the loft and 4 cables laying spare ready to
connect t a new LNB ;-)

Can't quite understand this 'Quad LNB, 2
Feeds'.
This doesn't sound quite right t
me.

Mark,
I suspect you will als need a dual
LNB. Other wise the tuner front ends won't be able independantly
select between horizontal and vertical polarisation.

Mark,
I can confirm that a second cable is required t
the LNB. The launch date is 1 st October 2001
I can't help you on cost, But like the
multi-channel digi box that should be out not long after, A sliding
scale of charges should apply, Maybe?
