The codes should be learned the same way when connected or not to the PC but I found out the hard way that this is not always the case, my problem was with a Yamaha remote for the AX1! Pronto connected with Pronto Edit just would not learn them properly but when I tried Pronto on it’s own it was fine, so long as the remote was at least five inches or so away from the receive window on the Pronto.

Thanks, Kenneth.  I’ve been using the service menu when the remote’s been disconnected from the computer.  I’ve even tried it in different rooms thinking there might be some interference!  The Pronto seems to be capturing the codes alright, or so it says…. I’ve “googled around” a bit for Toshiba and Pronto but I haven’t found much…  as an aside, when I like to my computer, is it just copying the page layouts or are the actual learned codes being stored on my machine in ProntoEdit?

Thanks again,

Matt

Matt,

How are you getting the codes into the Pronto?

If, as I suspect, you are doing it while the Pronto is connected to the PC sometimes the Pronto is not so good at learning codes that way and you may have to use the service menu on the Pronto when it is not connected to get your IR functions learned. That is of course if the codes can be learned!

“lookee here Mr Pronto Remote, I’m gonna learn you some remote control codes!”

a bit of a problem – I’m recording in the remote codes from my Toshiba DVD remote control, the Pronto says “yup, I’ve recorded them alright” but the codes ain’t workin’ from the Pronto...

any ideas?  Anyone successfully recorded the buttons from Toshiba?

Thanks!

Matt
