Transmitter schematic is at http://ha.orrs.net , I've not yet done
the (simple) receiver schematic (I'll post it soon!)

You might also have problems finding the TSOP1838 devices, but the
Sharp 1SIU60 ones should do the job fine (as long as you don't need
more than 10 receivers on the bus (roughly)) and seem to be more
widely available
