I don't have a separate subwoofer, since my Linn Keilidhs go deep =
enough for
the moment, and the Nautilus 801s that are on the shopping list go =
_deep_.

My gut reaction would be that =A324 buys "not much", and that you
=
should ask
Scan for the frequency response of the subwoofer, and compare it to the =
Sony
telly's. You may find that the built in speakers go lower smoother any =
way.

If you want bargain hi-fi, go to Richer Sounds, but even there, =A324 =
won't
buy what you need ;-(

Subject: [ukha_d] Subwoofers from Scan

I know this is off-topic, but people on the group seem to know a thing
or two about audio matters... Scan are currently advertising the
following:
600 Watt (PMPO) Active Speaker Set - 2 x Satellite Speakers & Large
Sub-Woofer & Combined Base Woofer=20
for only =A324.00. My Sony surround sound TV doesn't have a sub-woofer =
so
can I plug the scan kit into the scart or audio out of my TV, =
disconnect
the Scan satellite speakers and then effectively just have the
sub-woofer supplementing my existing Sony speakers?
I'm guessing that quality is not quite so important on subwoofers (our
experience of Terra branded kit is not great), and therefore having a
cheap one is better than not having one at all?
I'm willing to give it a go, but can anyone suggest a reason why it
won't work at all, or why I might not want to try it...
