Ha ha!

My neighbour has Linn Keilidhs! Lovely Cherry wood too.

I used to think I didn't need a sub too and I have Bose 401s which are much
deeper than the Linns! However, a sub gives a system the real cinema
feel....go on...treat yourself :-)

I don't have a separate subwoofer, since my Linn Keilidhs go deep enough
for
the moment, and the Nautilus 801s that are on the shopping list go _deep_.

My gut reaction would be that £24 buys "not much", and that you
should ask
Scan for the frequency response of the subwoofer, and compare it to the
Sony
telly's. You may find that the built in speakers go lower smoother any way.

If you want bargain hi-fi, go to Richer Sounds, but even there, £24 won't
buy what you need ;-(

Subject: [ukha_d] Subwoofers from Scan

I know this is off-topic, but people on the group seem to know a thing
or two about audio matters... Scan are currently advertising the
following:
600 Watt (PMPO) Active Speaker Set - 2 x Satellite Speakers & Large
Sub-Woofer & Combined Base Woofer
for only £24.00. My Sony surround sound TV doesn't have a sub-woofer so
can I plug the scan kit into the scart or audio out of my TV, disconnect
the Scan satellite speakers and then effectively just have the
sub-woofer supplementing my existing Sony speakers?
I'm guessing that quality is not quite so important on subwoofers (our
experience of Terra branded kit is not great), and therefore having a
cheap one is better than not having one at all?
I'm willing to give it a go, but can anyone suggest a reason why it
won't work at all, or why I might not want to try it...
