I'm of the opinion that the software looks pretty easy to customize.
The camera's may be "cycling" because there's motion in front of them.
Try pointing them at different sections of a static wall and see what
you can do with the "setup" feature.  Have you met all the minimum
system requirements they suggest?  I've often found the solution to
problems involving software or programming is "right in front of you".
The thing to avoid is "getting frustrated" which tends to give most
people "tunnel vision" (they can't see even the most obvious solution).
  Take a break, have a cup of coffee, and go back at it "fresh".  If all
else fails pull up the "help" screens or go sit in your favorite chair
and RTFM (Read the Freekin' Manual).  :-)
