2 wire X10 lamp modules require a 40 watt load to work. Without the
benefit of a connection to Neutral, the signal path is through the
bulb's filament even when the light is off. The filament in the
nightlight is not sufficient to provide that path and a minimum 40 watt
bulb (60 is more reliable) is required.  If you use one of the wall
switch modules with a neutral wire (Leviton or Switchlinc) or a plug-in
lamp module you can control the night light.
