Re: PDA control via Universal Remote

The Kameleon is sending 940nm IR modulated at 38-40kHz (usually) and the CIR
receivers are designed to receive 940nm IR and are tuned for a 38-40kHz
carrier. This makes for good range. IrDA uses 850nm IR that is unmodulated
so the IrDA receiver is suboptimal based on IR wavelength and also because
is not tuned for any carrier frequency. Range will be poor independent of
the quality of the CIR transmitter. It's apples and oranges.
