Why is it that some in this newsgroup are having a hard time
understanding how an offer of something for FREE really has a much
larger cost (taxes) than something being offered for an upfront price?

3 doors, a motion, a fob, and keypad anyone? I'm giving it away for
FREE. You only need to pay to maintain it. Oh and hey you save a
bundle on your insurance by taking my free offer.

Yes it is that simple. This is the government offering us a free home
security system, where all we need to do is pay for the monitoring and
upkeep.
