That part's handled by software.  The panel needs a valid handshake
before the communication process can be completed.  There are no
"hacks".  With some of the newer Ademco and DSC panels, you can option a
"pager output".  Most of the Linear stuff I've seen isn't what you'd
call "top of the line" anyway.
