Certainly that is an issue. However I think there are a few things to say in
their defense. One that we just switched from using DSC panels (at the low
end) to GE. Two is they literally never have to check parts, that is someone
else's job to check and stage parts. Three is that they seldom install
regular burglar alarms, especially in residences. I don't think they believe
that work is beneath them, but rather that they deserve a better technical
challenge. Small residential installation work and large commercial work is
quite different. You seldom trench and pour a footing for Code Blue ECs at a
residence. If it was a mag lock, card reader, camera, power supply, or
similar parts they would have handled it differently. I think the control
was mounted and wired before they really took notice of the board inside the
can.
