Nah.

You know he has to make sure that everyone knows that he's going on a
trip with all the details. If he couldn't make up stories and make
believe that he's important, no one would ever pay any attention to
him.

But ..... that's what people who are liars and bores do.

He doesn't realize that people don't believe his stories.
