Probably be very expensive to install but what do you think:

A setup where bars for  windows are hidden from view in the wall and
then when you
leave the house you flip a switch or remote device and bars rise from
the bottom of
the window area to the top of the window, come home at night and lower
the bars the
by the same method.  There would be a electric motor setup to raise and
lower the
bars.   Crazy idea or?
