Theft of telephone and other copper cables is on the rise in these
parts, so much so that the police are requesting scrap-metal dealers get
the names and addresses of anyone wanting to sell them cable fragments.

News item from last week: a man who was known to police was electrocuted
in an underground bunker near a power substation when he tried to cut
through a section of LIVE 114,000 volt cable... His face was burned so
badly he was initially unindentifiable.
