Robert L Bass - liar extraordinaire
Hey check it out:
Robert L Bass stated in CHA (comp.home.automation) that he had
permission to re-post a copyrighted article:
Here is the email trail that resulted when the editor of
ZWaveWorld.com was asked about his claim:
ME:
Was Robert Bass given permission to re-post this article?
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.home.automation/msg/9b4a4fb038659f9e
HER:
No, he was not given permission. He didn't even ask for permission.
Who is Robert Bass? Can you please ask him to remove the article from
that site?
Thank you for letting me know.
ME:
Robert Bass is a self-serving individual that runs an online store
selling security and home automation products. He often will repost
copyrighted information for his own personal gain. He has posted
confidential passwords to sites like Honeywell. He has also posted
proprietaty software from DSC (Digital Security Control) and Honeywell
on his site (which was removed when he was busted). His main website
is: http://www.bassburglaralarms.com/ The damage has been done. He
posted your article to Usenet. While you may be able to enforce DMCA
to Google, there are many sites <websites> that mirror Usenet and the
possiblity of tracking down each one and asking them to remove your
article will be time consuming and costly.
I am sick of him taking advange of companies and individuals for
personal gain. This is a BLATENT infridgement, he lied and said he
had permission. I think your company should persue this matter in
accordance to the law.

HER:
Thanks for the information. It's a small thing, so we'll not likely
pursue legal action. I sent him an email, but it bounced and there's
no answer at the number provided on the site.
I'll continue to try and contact him directly, but I doubt there's
anything we can do about what he posted. I'm not really sure what
purpose it serves him to post the article where he did. While it is
copyright enfringement, it not hurting us in any way. At least not
now.
Thanks again for bringing this matter to my attention.
