The 5883 is in exactly the same place as the 5800/6128 were.  Is is
centrally located in a first floor closet.

I tried with Fresh, brand new batteries (Duracells) and it made no
difference.

What I don't understand is whay the 5800wave will work at a MUCH greater
range than the keypad.  Both are bi-directional, but the siren works at 4
times the range....

Oh well...  I have a spare 2-pair on a nearby phone that I can grab...

It is just anoying...
