LImited range on 5839 Panel?

I recently upgraded my Ademco Vista 40 to the 5883H transceiver from the
original 5800 receiver and 6128rf transmitter set.

ALMOST everything is happy.  All my original devices are happy.

I added 2 x 5800 Wave wireless sirens susesfully. (this was the MAJOR reason
for the upgrade)

BUT... I can't get the 5839 Bidirectional Keypad to work for more that 20-30
Feet.  This makes no sense as the 5800wave sirens are monitored and
bidirectional as well, and they are MUCH farther away in the same location
(100-125 feet through brick walls).

I have tried re-initializing both the receiver and the keypad, and
everything anyone has suggested.(extra wires on the battery terminals,
etc...)   I really don't want to put in another receiver, as that defeats
the purpose of the wireless, especially since I have other devices that are
happy further away....
