I did the same thing to protect a warehouse whose roof had lots of long
(~30' x 2') skylights. We used Aritech "Little Reds" with curtain lenses,
turned sideways. It worked quite well for several years without falsing.

There were some detectors which we fitted to the underside of the roof in a
store in a tough Hartford neighborhood. Theives had previously broken in
once by removing a roof ventilator and another time by tearing up the roof
itself. I installed Litton Polyscientific shock sensors on the under
surface of the roof. The next time someone walked on the roof when the
alarm was set it went off. Since there were no other occupants in the
building except our customer this was OK. If it had been a shared occupancy
we would have needed a different solution.
