Re: napco cancel code

You can program it so send an "opening" signal and set that to only be
sent if the panel has had an alarm activated. To do this set up
Opening reports in the usual fashion. On the "User Assignment" screen
select the "User Reporting Open/Close" tab and place a check mark in
the appropriate receiver column for each user. Then, on the "Digital
Communications" screen select the "Digital/Dialing Options" tab. Place
a check mark in the box labeled, "Opening Report only after alarm
report."

You can also send "Restore" signals (selectable on a per-zone basis).
You access this area of the program by clicking the icon that looks
like a window and door to "Toggle Between Zone Assignment and Feature
View." On the "Feature View" page, scroll down to where it says "Rpt
Alarm Restore..." and select which zones should trigger a restoral
code. Since you only want to send a restore (used in place of a
"Cancel" code) upon disarming after an alarm, you will need to entyer
one more parameter.

I always preferred to send Open & Close signals on all commercial
alarms and on disarm after alarm for residentials. Since most false
alarms from commercial accounts seem to happen around opening and
closing times, I consider unsupervised O/C reports the bare minimum for
business customers.

With residential accounts you have to consider the possibility that the
customer may be on the phone trying to talk to the CS when the panel
sends an opening signal. They need to understand from the outset why
the panel will do this. Even still they may forget and get angry at
the alarm company when it happens three years after the installation.
