That is the reason. Wire is the least expensive part of the job. It will be
more expensive to replace a bad wire than the cost of the added pair now. Go
for it.

That is fine, but no problem on standardizing with the 22/4. Keep your color
coding standard throughout the install as well, when you are using 22/4.
