RE: DCM V1.0 is available

Ooooh. Now *that* is nice.

The difference is immediately obvious between the newer apps (I am
running an xpllib4.1 based version of xplhal to help test it, and my own
apps are recompiled to use v1.5 of the VB6 OCX) that respond to
hbeat.request and those that don't.

If we needed proof that the discovery was worthwhile, this is it - it's
instantaneous on the newer stuff.

One buglet (might be by design) - when you expand the "filter" or
"group" node on a device that doesn't have any filters/groups
set, it
looks like it is waiting to do something (I thought it had crashed).

Sweet looking app - I'm now wondering how it looks on Mac OSX - does
anyone have a Mac they could give it a whirl on, and snag some screenies
for us? (My iMac is still on OS9, as it's oooold)

Ian.

Howdy,

DCM - the xPL Device Configuration Manager -- is now available.

DCM will discovery the xPL Devices on your network, enumerate them and
allow your to configure them (if they are configurable). It also allows
xPL logging and sending of xPL messages.

DCM is similar to xPLHAL in it's ability to configure devices, though
xPLHAL does a lot more than just device configuration.

DCM is written in Java and is available for any platform that can run
modern Java. Even windows folks may want to take a look as it uses a
slightly different format for listing and configuring devices (key word:
slightly -- there is a limit in terms of how different it could be from
xPLHAL based on the need to do xPL device configuration).

DCM is a stand-alone application. It does not need xPL4Java installed
to run.

You can learn mroe about it at http://www.xPL4Java.org/xPL4Java
