That error looks like a VBScript problem on your NT box.
Do you have VBScript (or WSH - or whatever it's called for NT!)
installed?

I'm not sure if Tony has a download on his site for VBScript, as it
wasn't included in older versions of Windows.
It's certainly available as a download from Microsoft though.

I don't think it's an XML problem, as xPLHal will read and write the XML
files at startup and shutdown, and Determinators are all saved as XML.

If there is a problem with VBScript, the script processing routines will
throw an exception before they get to processing the X10 state change
messages, which would explain why everything remains as
"unknown".

Have you ever used scripts in xPLHal, or have you only ever used
determinators?
