motion detectors: need some input

Hello,

I could use some advice regarding motion detectors.

Requirements:
- no batteries
- wheather proof
- xpl'ed

What's there:
- X10 basics (computer interface CM11, appliance module, motion detector
MS13);
- locations on the outer walls where the detectors will be placed each
have 5 wires coming to a central location.

Limitations
- I am a software guy, I know zilch about electronics;
- the MS13 (http://www.intellihome.be/english/productview.asp?id=58)
uses batteries and is not wheaterproof (the one that I have is placed
protected from rain & sun but is falling apart after 2 years...);
- the OMM (http://www.keene.co.uk/cgi-bin/codesearch.pl?OMM)
is
overkill (it has its own lamps + uses 4 X10 addresses)

Possible routes
- Install standard motion detectors (5 wires will suffice to feed them
get notifications I suppose) and couple them with some unit that puts
an X10 signal on the house circuit. But what's the output of such a
motion detector ? What coupling device to use ?
- other route ??

This is probably very basic stuff for the most of you, so when you
stopped laughing, please enlighten me :-)

Regards,
Tom
