As Frank says not sure how you would load something like 19.6 into a
variable that can have a value 0 to 255.

This is possible from a code point of view but I believe that there is a
xPL standard that say all temperatures will be reported in C to avoid
confusion.  Not sure whether this is documented but it was certainly the
case from the beginning IIRC.
