Is xPLComfort installed on the same PC as xPLHal? Or is it on a different
PC?
If it's on a different PC to the one running xPLHal, you'll need to
download an xPL Hub, e.g.
http://www.xpl.myby.co.uk/downloads/xplhub/xplhub.zip

Yep, it assumes the default UCM/Ethernet port number.

Have a look in the Event Log of the PC running xPLComfort - usually any
problems with the startup are logged to the application log.

Delete the file
C:\<Windows_Directory>\System32\xpl_johnb-comfort.instance1.xml, and
then try restarting the xPL Comfort service.
