Re: xPLMediaNet - Remote.Basic Mapping

IMO it would definitely be a "Good Thing (tm)" to define a
standard set
of control words that could be used in place of the IR codes - they
would be useful outside the world of xPLMediaNet too.

I'm currently planning two more xPL connectors. One would be a plugin
for MediaPortal (VideoLan didn't do what I wanted in the end), allowing
control by xPL message rather than directly through the remote control,
and also the sending of xPL messages from MediaPortal menus, although I
need learn some C# first!). The other application would xPL-enable the
MCE remote control receiver and it's two IR blasters.

It would be handy if we could agree on a set of predefined controls,
since it would enable all these applications to control each other by
default without the user having to set up a whole load of mappings in
xPLHal.

The MCE remote control would seem as good a starting point as any, and
that has the following buttons:

Power
TV, PC

Transport:
Play, Pause, Stop, Record, Rew, Fwd, Replay (Skip Back), Skip (Fwd).

Menu navigation:
Up, Down, Left, Right, Select, Back, More (or Info), Start (Home),
Recorded TV, Guide, Live TV, DVD Menu (top menu?)

Number keypad:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, #

Others:
Clear, Enter, Teletext, Red, Green, Yellow, Blue.

That's quite a list, but I'm sure there are yet more that would be useful.

Mal
