I have the best solution of all:

<a href="http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?product_uid=43683";>http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?product_uid=43683</a>

Seriously, if you have workarounds from minute one, it's gonna be a pain to
troubleshoot issues as they develop, and I for one don't have the time to
spend chasing phantom problems caused by a loopback adapter, rather than
spend a few pennies on a network card.

If that's too much, have a look on ebay, there are a few in the £1-5 price
range coming up in the next 24 hours.

The situation is even better for old desktop PCs: you can routinely pick up
an old ISA or PCI NIC on ebay for less than 3 quid.

I.
