There should be a 'mcsxAP' menu link button in the HomeSeer devices web
page in which you configure all of mcsXAP.

Yes, I'm running HomeSeer HS2 presently. Thank you for
the suggestion - I'll uninstall the plugin (is this
simply a case of deleting the OCX?) and try the one that
you've suggested.
I don't presently have an xAP device to work with, no.
I'm looking to gain a high-level understanding of how
the protocol operates and how it can be used to
integrate with HomeSeer. From there, I'd like to dirty
my hands a bit and develop some simple applications.
So what I'm really looking to do is have a few
autonomous applications (clocks, for example) run on the
same network, and verify with the viewer that everything
is playing nicely. I'm then going to need to look into
the frameworks currently available for xAP, but that's a
question for another day!
Thanks again.

Hi Tom,

Welcome to xAP. There are two
xAP plugins for HomeSeer and assuming
you are running HomeSeer2 I would
recommend you use the other one from
mcs. It's is not quite as nice in
it's user interface but it is current
and supported. The mi4 one was
intended for HomeSeer v1.7 and is no
longer supported , although several
people do still use it on HS2. So I
would uninstall the mi4 plugin and
install the mcs one from the mcs
section on HomeSeer's forum

The install is in the library
folder and there's quite a lot of
posts re usage in the discussions
folder. Make sure you you set
'display options' so can view all
the history (from beginning) or the
HomeSeer forum will hide older posts
from view.

As to a 'hello world' example , do
you already have some external xAP
device or application that you are
wishing to use within HomeSeer. Just
wondering what your intention is here
with xAp and HS ? If not there are
a load of apps around - just choose
one that tickles your fancy. To start
with I would recommend using one that
uses the xAP BSC schema as that is the
smoothest integration with the mcs xAP
plugin. All schema are supported but
take a little more configuration and
maybe scripting but BSC is essentially
plug and play. Michael (mcs) himself
has a ton of apps here, plus the other
xAP sites.
