Re: Re: XAP Ethernet relay

I was sort of waiting for Kevin(T) to pop up as I had lost of track of
the many devices he now supports via serial. Anyway he's listed a few
below.

AFAIK there are only the embedded devices he's mentioned - or 1-wire
relays that you could attach via OPNone. This could prove economic if
you had a several to add but the xAP Netiom is likley to be the most
cost effective for your needs. If you are able to use non embedded then
there's several more options - eg those from Kevin(T) or Michael
McSharry (mcs) including 1-wire and serial attaches like Ocelot, Weeder
etc. You could use HomeVision as well but again a higher price point.
HV (+ gateway) would include an embedded xAP control engine for
scheduling and logic.

I will also mention that all the IDRANet devices can now be used via xAP :
http://www.idratek.co.uk

They make a good and nicely priced range of I/O using standard size
light switch mountings that can be visible or hidden. Includes light,
humidity and temp sensors as well as PIR's , relays, analog I/O, Low
voltage (TTL/CMOS) I/O, switches, speech , LCD display and a very
attractively priced DIN rail range - especially the 4 channel dimmer at
under £100 ex VAT. This isn't a truly embedded xAP solution as
their
Cortex application is required to do the xAP bridging but that adds a
fully featured HA application with logging, graphing, scheduling, logic
and other fuzzy/smarts as well as web interface and realtime floorplan
layout. Cortex can be used to directly program low level interactions
between IDRANet devices as well - that then run embedded (no PC
required).

Similar can be done with Dynalite and C-Bus of course - although the
price point is considerably higher.
