Hi,

There are a few ways of doing this with a HomeSeer setup.
Setting up x10 in both the house and the barn each using a xAP x10
connector and set so that each building will use different house codes.
In HomeSeer you can setup it to route x10 messages to either unit
depending on house code. So say A-F goes to the house and G-P goes to
the barn for example.
Keep HomeSeer exactly as is as far as the house's x10. In the barn
install the x10 conduit from Edward Pearson but configure it to use BSC.
HomeSeer in the house will now prompt you to add the BSC devices. Now in
HomeSeer you'll be able to control and get the status from the remote
devices.
Run a copy of HomeSeer in both buildings. You can then, over xAP, have a
mirror of HomeSeer A's devices on HomeSeer B and vice versa.
All of the above give control and status but with the limits of x10
reliability.
Another way, which Kevin mentioned, is to use the Netiom-xAP and hard
wire the items you want to control to it. The netiom-xAP device will
show up in HomeSeer as normal devices and give control and you get the
advantage of a reliable hardwire solution and it doesn't require a PC on
in the barn.

Hope these methods make sense. As long as you have ethernet between the
two buildings then there's always a way to connect it all up via xAP ;-)

<pre wrap="">Thanks Kevin,

It seems that a computer at the barn running HS would be able to more
accurately track status of those devices located at the barn. If the
second computer was linked via xAP to the house computer, then the
main house computer could be updated as to the status of the barn
devices periodicly. It sounds like I wasted my time on the serial
server even though it works (less status). How reliable would this
system be? Could I rely on it to control the HVAC in the barn office?
or the sprinkler system located in that area? I am also going to add
cameras at the barn but those could be networked to the main house
easily.

Thanks for your help.
