Hi Tim,
=20
I use Windows 7 here and can VPN to my Draytek 2820.=20
=20
On the Windows 7 VPN I have
- Type of VPN set to PPTP
- Optional Encryption
- Allows these protocols set to CHAP and MSChap v2
=20
=20
On the draytek I have
=20
On Remote Access Control
- Enable PTPP VPN Service
PPP General Setup
- Dian in PPP Authentication set to PAP or CHAP
- Dial in PPP encryption set to Optional=20
- Mutual set to NO
The username and password is set to something I made up
The IP address is set to a local address
=20
I also have a remote dial in user setup with the same username/password as
=
above

Subject: [ukha_d] VPN to Draytek router =E2=80=93 help wanted!
=20
=20=20
Hi all,
=20
I have some devices at home that I want to access from inside a separate
co=
rporate network.=20
With a noip.com <http://noip.com> account I can access some
of them, but s=
ome outgoing ports are blocked (ports 80 & 8080 work, 5000 & 5001
are block=
ed).=20
The 5000 & 5001 ports were arbitrarily selected by me, so I could
change th=
em to other numbers but it then ends up as a trial and error exercise as
to=
which will work, and if I move to a new employer, or client office there=
=E2=80=99s no guarantee the same ports will be open there.
=20
So a VPN is the way to go (I think?)
I=E2=80=99ve got a Draytek 2820 router at home which supports VPN.
=20
When trying to =E2=80=9Cphone home=E2=80=9D from work:
# The inbuilt Win7 VPN =E2=80=9Cclient=E2=80=9D fails to establish a
connec=
tion =E2=80=9Cprobably due to a firewall/router not supporting the GRE
(Gen=
eric Routing Encapsulation) protocol=E2=80=9D.
# The company provides a Cisco VPN client so I can access work stuff when
t=
ravelling. I did try adding a new connection to home, but this didn=E2=80=
=99t seem to work either.
# Draytek=E2=80=99s SmartClient software appears to establish a connection
=
but I can=E2=80=99t see how to access my stuff. How do I open a browser
ses=
sion to access devices on my home network when at work on a work pc?
=20
Have I missed out a vital step?=20
Any help will be much appreciated :-)
=20
Cheers,
Tim.
