Re: What's currently the best box for streaming ripped DVD content?

My setup involves a Linux PC running Plex media server and Roku boxes
runni=
ng the Plex client. I also have WDTV Live boxes that can access network
sha=
res or media servers, but this is not as pretty as the Plex interface. The
=
WDTV also does offer a media jukebox type of interface, but it is not very
=
good; not a patch on XBMC or Plex.=20

I know Plex can be installed on some NAS boxes, especially Synology units.
=
The trade off tends to be that some NAS boxes won't be be able to
transcode=
the video to suit the Roku's format, if the files are not already compatib=
le. I think Roku supports MP4 and MKV files. I also think there might be a
=
channel for Roku that works with DLNA devices.

I was looking at Popcorn Hour boxes before I ended up with my current
setup=
. These might be your best bet if you don't want to run a PC. I cannot
comm=
ent on the UI experience but they appear to play every type of format.
