Worth mentioning that this situation with PC USB is rapidly
changing...
*many* PC's and motherboards now boast USB ports which will supply the
higher current needed to charge an iPad - my last 2 PC's have had this
feature.. These also continue to supply charing current even when the PC is
switched off, - so long as the mains is still connected of course!

I really hope not - I just wrapped it in a Zagg invisible shield -
ridiculously expensive but ideal.
