RE: Touchscreen laptop that runs XP (but doesn't need a stylus)
Hi Andy,
If they work with fingers and not stylus, then it may be that they have
capacitive touch screens not resistive.
The capacitive use your body (finger) to detect a change in the capacitive
field as opposed to the resistive that rely on depressing two membranes
together.
Personally, I prefer the capacitive type as they do not effect the quality
of the image and also do not suffer from ware and tare on the membrane.
(The
capacitive elements are behind the glass as opposed to the resistive film
in
front of the glass.)
If they are the capacitive type that you have been looking at, you can get
stylus's that have pseudo metal tip that effects the capacitance thus works
like a finger.
Regards,
Neil Wrightson.

Subject: [ukha_d] Touchscreen laptop that runs XP (but doesn't need a
stylus)
Not strictly Ha related but...
We've got home grown touch screen scanning, weighing, label printing
stations in our warehouse - hardware consists of a PC with touchscreen,
barcode scanner, scales and label printer
I'm trying to condense this down into a set of kit my directors can take to
the US to demo but I'm running into problems trying to replace the PC and
touchscreen.
The drivers for the scanner only work reliably on Windows XP but I can't
seem to find a decent touchscreen laptop that runs XP (must work with
fingers rather than stylus)
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Andy
