RE: C-Bus wireless, X10 or Z-Wave?

If you only want on/off control then it is easy, simply use the relay
modules which have no minimum load requirement. For non-dimmable sources,
some LED and fluorescent lamps, then you would have to do this in any case
as setting a dimmer to 100% output does not prevent the dimmer electronics
from affecting the output waveform which can upset some lamps.

But still the issue of minimum load :(

To be fair I'm not necessarily interested in dimming, just automating on
off..

Depends on the lamps ultimately and whether they can be dimmed with
leading/trailing edge dimmers. If they can then you have the issue of
dimme=
r
minimum loads as well. I've been surprised with the speed of development of
LED fittings that can be controlled with trailing edge dimmers (from the
likes of Philips), while they are not yet at a price that makes them
suitable for the masses it does show that it is possible to find suitable
low energy lighting that will work with these kinds of dimmers. There are
also more and more retro-fittable LED lamps of all types coming over from
China, some of which do show promise as replacements for incandescents.

I don't want to push this thread off topic but I'm interested to know how
these solutions (CBUS , RAKO etc) fair in relation to the phasing out of
incandescent bulbs. At the moment I have all the lights in our house on
LD11's, but with the phasing out of incandescent bulbs and the minimum load
requirement of x10 (40watts) I can see me having to rethink my install in
the next couple of years. If I'm going to replace then I'd like something
that will work with LED lights since I'm sure they will become the standard
in a few years time.

It is the same price for a 4 scene wall controller though :)

Rako is very expandable (and now wired too as mentioned by Neil) - very

reliable, and is great for integration purposes.

Via RS232 its good to intergrate with Control4, Opus, Systemline, Philips
Pronto etc. etc.

Dean.

Hi Dean,

That'd sure have to be some special kind of discount..

.. just Googled and this seems to be the ball park figure for Rako Wireless
kit.

Obviously not for the likes of a DIY HAer like myself!

Going back to dream...
