Mine was always configured that way, - no HDMI-out on my current MCE
machine, so VGA to the screen and optical to the receiver...

Will all change later this year though... seeing as I'll have to rebuild
before the RC expires, it seems only right to drop some better hardware in
there as well... - and that of course then means that I'll *need* to buy
that new receiver with the HDMI switching etc... (currently on 1 hdmi on
the
screen) :-)

I've also had no sound problems with DTS soundtracks sent over hdmi.  I had
to connect my PC to the receiver using an optical cable as well, and send
the audio over that.
