I got these from ebay - I'm not saying they are the best, but it's not that
easy to know what
you're getting in advance.

They appear as two HID devices, and generate key codes. I could have maybe
got this to do
what I wanted, but I told UDEV to ignore the device and used two instances
of LIRC to grab
both event devices. I have then mapped everything using LIRC, which gives
me much more
control. It all suspends and resumes via the remote, which is very sweet.

Mostly this one -

Fixing other stuff was then down to lots of googling and some asking on the
mythtv mailing
list.

Make no mistake, the learning curve is steep and this isn't for the faint
hearted. I put off
going the mythtv route for *years* and it was only the Revo coming along
with its killer
combination of small, quiet, fast and CHEAP that pushed me into doing it.
